TG#16 Tales from the Cracker Barrel Restroom

December 14, 2008 – 11:30 pm

It’s been quite a while, but we’re back. It’s a shorter format, we have a guest, and of course, we talk about something having to do with the iPod touch (and iPhone!!!)

iPod Touch Software 2.2 – Kind of late, but here we are
New Features:

  • Search and address bar are now side by side
  • Download Podcasts from the iPod (not the iPwn)
    • Quick letter navigation of podcasts is gone 🙁
    • Podcast “no album art” is now a head with “waves”
  • Ability to turn off autocorrection
  • Security fixes for Webkit and Safari
  • Home Screen Shortcut
  • Google Maps improvements omitted from touch (street View, public transit navigation or sharing information via e-mail – why?)
  • New Languages
  • Mail Improvements
    • Improved email fetching scheduling
    • Improved HTML email formatting

Lamest News of the Week:
Boy fights off coyote with a snowboard. It’s not lame that the kid was able to defend himself. What is really lame is the 3 minute video of idiocy that accompanied this story. A simple “a boy was attacked by a coyote while snowboarding and fended it off by hitting it with his snowboard” would have been fine. No such luck! The interviewer is pretty weak.

Woman finds $97000 in Cracker Barrel restroom.  I can’t even begin to talk about what’s wrong with this story.  First, you find a small fortune and you don’t keep it? What is wrong with someone carrying that much cash?  Bank checks, lady?  Then eating at Cracker Barrel and leaving your life savings on the crapper hook?

The Mercedes E-Series 2005-2007 models are the least stolen car, with 0.6 per 1000 stolen

Of course… Laurie wins!

  2. Holy Multiple Podcasts in 2 weeks PatMan!!!

Good Show. I just recently got my hands on an iTouch and will have to upgrade the sw to get the cool new features. I was actually walking around listening to the podcast on the iTouch today.

And I have to say, I like the “tweak” to the album art this week to put Laurie’s name on it. Nice…

  3. Since I also do not have an iTouch, I may or may not have tuned that part out! I promise to listen again when I am not on cold meds. The lamest news of the week made me laugh out loud! Good job y’all!!

  4. Thanks for editing out my potty comments in the show notes, oh ye fabulous admins.

Gosh it is hard listening to my own voice! My old boss once told me I sound like Drew Barrymore. What do you guys think? Worse yet, I personally think Drew Barrymore sounds like Heidi from the Hills. Do I also sound like Heidi? I totally don’t expect Craig or Pat to be able to answer that since they are way too cool to watch the Hills, but maybe another listener has an opinion. Please?

  5. True, I am too cool to watch the Hills. I don’t even know what you’re talking about!

  6. Oh man, how much do I suck? (that’s rhetorical) I get a full fledged shout out, complete with a “good listener” rating, and I’m just now getting around to listening to this episode! *sigh* I’m going to go try to fend off the wolves to cheer myself up.
