TG #13: Live Review of the New Nano, Destroying the Earth and lots of Ba’als

October 19, 2008 – 10:48 pm

We continue our guest host string with Laurie, Pat’s fiancee and iPod user. With her help, we apply some Kryptonite to Heroes, talk about the end of the world, and respond to some voicemail.

Hands-on with the New Nano
Laurie purchased the new model of the iPod Nano, and gives us a hands-on review.

Heroes Season Three
Pat hates it because he’s stupid and ugly. Craig likes it because he’s smart and good-looking.

Since the Large Hadron Collider Failed…
It did not destroy the Earth, but here are 10 ways to do so:

10. Total existence failure (need – just wait 2E50 years) (Or a Death star)
9. Gobbled up by strangelets (need – LHC)
8. Sucked into a microscopic black hole (need – microscopic black hole)
7. Blown up by matter/antimatter reaction (need – 2.5 trillion tons of antimatter)
6. Destroyed by vacuum energy detonation – (need – light bilb)
5. Sucked into a giant black hole (need – giant black hole, gravity tractor)
4. Meticulously and systematically deconstructed (need – giant mass driver)
3. Pulverized by impact with blunt instrument (need – big asteroid)
2. Eaten by von Neumann machines (Need – von Neumann machine) – Grey goo
1. Hurled into the Sun (need – sun, something to knock the earth into the sun)

Lamest News of the Week

Rabbits invade Nelson Mandela Museum
Also – 10/13 – Dow gained 976 points, largest single gain ever – lame part is that it is not the largest percentage gain ever. Best point gain since 1932, but only the 5th best ever. Best is 3-15-33?

Someone on the Internet got all mad about a bad review. Don’t mock Chuck-E-Cheese knockoffs run by Christian ex-Marines.
Also, there will be a WoW-oriented mouse with 15 buttons!

The Girls Next Door are all moving out of the Playboy Mansion!

  2. When Laurie visits, it should be called Tweak, Geek, and Chic.

  3. Great cast guys. It was really nice to finally hear an intelligent person. (Laurie)

I also like hearing your thoughts about Hero. It use to be one of my favorite shows, but I lost interest last season and after hearing about this season I think I made the right choice in not watching this season.

    Keep up the great work.

  4. Hi guys,

This is the first time I have listened to your cast. I followed it here from the link under the Chuckee Cheese type place fights back. I am the writer who wrote the “lame” review. Anyway, I enjoyed your podcast, it was pretty funny. I will for sure tune in again. Btw… Going at least 2 or 3 times is common for a restaurant review. You want to go at different times to see if the experience differs any, and I never like to write a bad review based on one experience just in case it was a fluke.

    Thanks for the mention:)

  5. I went to your link and read the playtime review and didn’t think it was “that” bad. Obviously the person hated the place, but in order to give an honest review you usually should try a place like that more then once.

The guys response to it was hilarious however, and I am glad you posted the link up. You guys hit it spot on in the pod cast. Redkneck jar head all the way. The guy obviously had a huge ego and couldn’t deal with being knocked.

  6. Judy – thanks for listening. It was definitely the owner’s response that was lame… I would say you gave his place much more of a chance than it probably deserved.

Hurricane – Also thanks for listening!

There will be much more Lame news to come…

  7. And don’t pay much attention to me… I’m usually just trying to stir up trouble!

Oh, and Craig? You’re a jerk!

  8. Thanks again guys for letting me guest on your podcast. It was a lot of fun. Wow, I really do sound monotone though!

Brad – The last 3 episodes of Heroes have been okay. I’m hoping that it gets better! The first 2 episodes really didn’t start the season on a great note. Maybe if it saves itself by the end of the season you can go back and watch.

Judy – You are brave to risk the ire of the restaurant owners in your honest review. I’d probably be too soft. Hopefully they take some of your constructive criticism to heart and make improvements.

  9. Pat – You are right… I am a jerk. But I learned it from watching YOU!

By Craig on Oct 26, 2008

  10. Ok. I want to hear about how Pat messed up his Mod to his GameBoy. That would be entertaining.

And is anyone watching Fringe? I have not made up my mind on this, but I thought you two geeks would be into it. Oops…. 3 geeks. Sorry Laurie.

  11. Laurie,

Sometimes it is hard for me to do. I always feel bad for a few seconds before posting, but then I have to remind myself that I would really be a cruddy reviewer if I gave in and softened everything up just to spare someone’s feelings.

I’m used to the flaming though after reviewing games for Gamers are the best flamers of them all, so I learned to have a steal heart when reading comments!

  12. opps I meant *steel heart lol

  13. My wife and I listened to this podcast on the way back from a trip to upstate New York and I can honestly say we’ve lisened to comedians who haven’t made us laugh that hard. Best show yet! Looking forward to the higher production rate…
