  2. Um….

Speaking of a virus. A friend of mine’s wife failed to practice safe surfing and clicked on the pop up ad “Your PC is infected, click here to clean”. And as we all know what happened next was a really foobared pc.

He called me for help and I have not yet ordered my “No I will not fix your computer” shirt from Think Geek ( who ought to sponsor y’all as much air time as they get). Normally I reply to such requests with a “Wow…that’s too bad” and introduce them to the joys of a clean OS install and loss of all data. I am wondering at what level of friendship do you actually attempt to help salvage data?

  3. You can salvage data when there are rewards of a carnal or cash nature. Nothing else suffices.

  4. Nice going Craig. Where is my clap?

  5. Looks like it’s new install of the OS then!

  6. I reserve data salvaging for parental and grand-parental units only. Everyone else gets a lecture on life’s hard lessons. And a nice case of the clap.

  7. Sounds like a good policy, Craig. I think I’ll adopt it and augment it with Pat’s policy of suitable reward for anyone else.

Shades… I have the “No I will not fix your computer” shirt and highly recommend it. I also have (and recommend) the “I don’t work here” shirt, which is handy when you’re helping a friend choose a router at Best Buy or something.
